Charles H. Betz is a retired pastor and departmental director. He is the author of four books in religious education. He holds graduate degrees in divinity and religious education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Pastor Betz has studied and written extensively in the field of child development and parenting. He has conducted many seminars in Oregon and Washington. Charles and his wife, Harriet, are members of the Oregon Conference Family Life Committee.

In 1994 Successful Parenting Postscripts was published, on a trial basis, as a follow-up for the seminars Pastor Betz had conducted throughout the Oregon conference. As interest grew, the publication was offered to all churches to use in their church newsletter. At the present time about 69 churches are receiving this monthly publication, either in a newsletter or a bulletin insert format. Now Successful Parenting Postscripts can be downloaded by anyone to be reformatted and printed for a particular use. Charles and Harriet Betz are grateful to the Oregon Conference Family Life Department for making the publishing of Successful Parenting Postscripts possible. "We believe that providing busy parents with helpful information is a part of the Elijah message for these last days."
