INTRODUCTION:
Why use the term “guys?
Why address spiritual issues for guys?
Big Issue: Spirituality can create an identity crisis in guys.
Big Question: Can you be a spiritual Christian guy and still be
a guy?
Biblical examples:
- Peter, James and John (Gospel of love) -- fishermen
- Paul – tentmaker
- Job – camels/trucking; oxen/farm implements; donkeys/used
car lot
- David – “man after God’s own heart” – soldier
- Jesus – carpenter, logger, miller with no power tools.
He was no wimp!
THE MAIN EVENT:
Jeremiah 7:23 and 11:4
vs.
Romans 5:8 and 1 John 4:19
Two sides to verses – DO and BE
What to DO:
What to BE:
Biblical Guidance for guys – Galatians 5:16–23; Luke
11:9-13
- Less about your interests than how you go about those
interests
- Some “guy” interests ARE incompatible, but many
can be in harmony with our faith
- Less about outward man; more about the inward person
- Can you do “guy” things according to Galatians
5:22-23?
